Beware of recruitment scams targeting jobseekers

Recently, there has been a rise in reported scams and instances of fraud in the recruitment sector across the Asia Pacific region.Job and employment scams trick you into handing over money by offering a ‘guaranteed’ way to make fast cash or promising a high-paying job with little effort.

Warning signs: How to spot a job or employment scam

  1. You may come across an advertisement, receive an email, SMS, WhatsApp message, or even a phone call offering a guaranteed income or job opportunity.
  2. Scammers may impersonate a WellsGray consultant by contacting you via social media or job boards.
  3. Warning signs include suspicious profile images, lack of genuine profile information, or unusual activity.

If you're unsure, ask the individual to send an email from their WellsGray email address. Official emails from WellsGray consultants will come from a verified domain (e.g. name@wellsgray.com.au).

What to do if you suspect a recruitment scam
